The UK Film Education Trust (UKFET) supports professional bodies and organisations dedicated to training and education in the film, television, and screen industries.

Located in the historic heart of the UK’s Film & TV industry at Pinewood Studios, we collaborate with industry experts to identify skills gaps, funding opportunities, and training needs. Our mission is to empower the next generation of production crews, helping them enter and thrive in the industry.

Addressing Need and Growth

Despite unprecedented investment in studio facilities and production across the UK, there is a critical national skills shortage that demands urgent action.

To address this, UKFET partners with industry stakeholders and strategic organisations to increase investment in skills-based training throughout the UK’s regions and nations.

We believe that a skilled, diverse and innovative workforce will be key to future growth and making the UK a world leader in the screen industries.

Powering ahead with ScreenSkills

UKFET collaborates with ScreenSkills, the industry-endorsed skills body for the UK screen sector. ScreenSkills champions and nurtures talent, ensuring a world-leading, agile, and inclusive workforce. Production Design & Art Direction for Film & TV

In partnership with Film Design International (FDI), UKFET supports training in draughtsmanship for the film and television industry. Founded by Terry Ackland-Snow in 2001 and based at Pinewood Studios, FDI offers an immersive Art Direction Course, providing students with essential skills and a vital first step towards becoming successful art directors and production designers. Hair and Make-up for Film & TV

UKFET collaborates with the Iver Make-up Academy (IMA), the only independent further education training school for makeup, hair, and SFX artists at Pinewood Studios. Accredited with the ScreenSkills quality mark, IMA’s courses prepare students for successful careers in the screen industries. Visit IMA

Through our partnership with Animated Women UK (AWUK), UKFET supports initiatives promoting diversity, professional development, and positive change within the animation and VFX industries.
